Gustavian Style Home in France

Tuesday takes us to Saint-Germain-en-Laye which Wikipedia tells me is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France in north-central France. It is located in the western suburbs of Paris and this is where antique dealer Sophie and riding instructor Philip had this farmhouse restored. Sophie is owner of the shop "Au Temps des Cerises," and she displays her antiques in her home.

A palette of subdued grey, beige an whites in every room. 18th century antiques mingle with Gustavian furniture.

Reclaimed wood was used for the coffee table. An Aubusson style rug defines the sitting area.

Even the dish drainer by the stone sink is antique.

  1. I love this, I really do. There are many pieces I would love to have in my own home. It's just beautiful. And it feels so peaceful and restful.
However, after a little while I'd be missing my blues, reds, yellows..
This feels like meditation time in yoga...ahhhh..
now I'm ready for the explosion of color in life!

  4. Lisa honey, I knew you were going to feel like this about this house! That is why I try to alternate subdued coloured houses with colourful ones. I so love your comments!

NiceArt, I'm not sure if I know what you mean about the confession rooms. My guess is that you thought the huge cupboard with the inside curtains was an old confession room but I doubt it very much! Looks like an antique cupboard to me!

Greet, I must have missed your post with this same house! But I wouldn't be at all surprised as I love all your posts and we have very similar taste.
