Diane Keaton's home.

Yesterday's post was about the set design made especially for the movie Something's Gotta Give starring Diane Keaton. Even though she was thrilled with the rooms of the new set where she would work, she admitted they were not her style... So, what is her style then?

Let's have a look at her house in Beverly Hills and find out...



See the entrance? Well, that's not the last archway you'll find in her house. She has a passion for archways as you will notice in the following pics.


Isn't the front of the house beautiful? I love this photo. She has managed to enhance the Spanish Colonial Revival style throughout the house.


Second archway. The door leading to the library. The subject of most of her books is photography and architecture. She is also fond of mottoes. This one says: "The eye sees what the mind knows".


Yet another arch in the fireplace brick opening. The windows at the side open to an interior courtyard with a fountain. You can breathe the Spanish influence in this room: from the terra-cota vases to the rug, from the furniture to the small tiles on the staircase.

Inverted lamp shade fixtures give off an interesting indirect light. Make me feel a bit giddy though!



I like the sign and the pottery on the kitchen shelves.


This is the office with archways leading into and out of it. I like the sombreros displayed around the fountain in the courtyard beyond! Actually they are little figurines of men crouching around the fountain. They seem to be asleep with their hats covering their heads.

And the latest news is that she has put her mansion on the market for about $11.9 million. This was back in May this year. I wonder if she has already sold it? Maybe if you hurry you can still buy it!

Something's Gotta Give Set Design.

Have you seen the movie Something's Gotta Give, starring Diane Keaton, Jack

Nicholson and Keanu Reeves? Do you remember the lovely beach house?

It was put together especially for the film. Each room was designed to fit

her character, a divorced, very successful playwright in her mid 50s.

The film director, Nancy Meyers asked set decorator Beth Rubino to create

a large Hamptons house with the sense of ocean everywhere. The interiors

are full os sandy beach colours and sea blues.

For two and a half months. people lived and worked here. It was a sad

moment when they had to tear it down. But this is Hollywood and that's just

how it is.

Diane Keaton was very enthusiastic when she saw the rooms of the Hollywood

set although she admitted they are not in her style. Tomorrow we will see what

she meant by this as I plan to show you the house where she actually lives!

Whether you've seen the movie or not, I hope you will still enjoy looking at

these lovely rooms!

Interior Designer Victoria Hagan

Victoria Hagan is my favourite interior designer. Her rooms, brimming with exceptional grace, originality and clarity are pure eye candy.

Based in Manhattan, she designed this house on the waterfront on Nantucket, the island off the coast of Massachusetts.

The interior is elegant but informal. Sophisticated but youthful. She used a restricted palette—white, blue and brown—which adds serenity.

Let's take our shoes off and step inside this lovely home!

White Kitchens

For those of you who love white kitchens (you talkin' to ME?) have a ball with today's post. They might be hard to keep clean but aren't they worth it?



Those pics on the countertop must be covering sockets. Great idea!



I think the taps are a wee bit too high over the sink. But I like the petite shelves half way up the windows. The little flower pots look lovely there.






A sink in the island is so handy.






Archways look so handsome. I also like the candles hanging above the table.


This kitchen looks nice but having pottery jars with wooden spoons at the back of the cooking range is definitely dangerous. Imagine you are cooking something and you have to reach for a spoon, you have to lean on the stove and your clothes will catch fire. Another setback is that you'll have to wash them all after cooking your french fries! Not a good idea.


Love this island with the marble top. Remember to leave enough room for your legs under the top, otherwise you'll have to sit sideways!


Two islands? If you have the space, why not?





I like this kitchen very much. I like the sign that says cuisine.

Having a blackboard in a kitchen is practical and looks nice. But imagine the length of the chalk you'll need if you want to write at the top of this one! Or, you'll have to stand on that stool and you might fall. If you write something at the bottom where you can easily reach it is bound to be erased by the splashes when you do the dishes. Oh, I seem to be so negative today!
