Provencal Style in London

Happy it's Friday? So am I. This is such a lovely house. It is in London and looks quite old but was actually built only a few years ago. Decorated by its owners, Binny and Graham Hudson, full of flea market finds and vintage items, the house is warm and friendly.


Binny Hudson is a stylist and florist and constantly takes beautiful plants from the small garden into the house.



Old style furniture in the study.The armchair comes from a theatre and the metal desk is French. Steel beams reveal that the house is not nearly as old as one might think.


In the kitchen an old-fashioned butcher's bench, which is one of Binny Hudson's dearest treasures, is topped with vintage and flea market items. Framed chalkboards, one for every day. I love the kitchen door.


Subway tiles, white painted cabinets and island. Notice how interesting the collection of rolling pins looks displayed on the wall by the door.

I would have loved to see the rest of the rooms but unfortunately these were the only photographs available.

Summer House in Costa Brava

A bright, small holiday house in Costa Brava which is in the coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, Spain. All white with splashes of pink and blue. Come and see if you like it.

White on White Summer House in Denmark

Second post today for you. Here's a summer house in North Zealand. Some of you I know will cringe as it is an all white house. Bright, summery and airy.

Mony Linz-Einstein's Home

This is an interesting house. I'm not sure whether you'll like it but it is has character and is brimming with antique items which are combined with modern furniture as well. Set in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Germain, it belongs to Albert Einstein's great grand niece Mony Linz-Einstein.

Antique Swedish furniture, a litograph by Max Ernst, zinc wall molds once used to make stencils on porcelain and many scattered items in the sitting room.


Swedish 18th century table, black and gold 17th century mora clock, Chinese bamboo chair and stool, old iron shelves on which doors have been added and chandeliers made with elements of recycled computers in the kitchen and dining area.


Not much privacy in the master bedroom as it is right under the hall upstairs.


In the guest bedroom a Tibetan rug and small 1920s Indian cabinet repainted white.




It's not very visible, but there's an early XIX century carved wooden dog attached to the end of the stair rail. Bamboo ladder.

The entrance of the house features cement mushroom shaped stools. Antique vases, candle holders, a mirror and a jug with a lobster shaped handle are displayed on the table.



An abundance of ferns and overgrown plants in the back patio with a 17th century Indian wooden temple sitting on a round table and antique stools scattered about.

New House Near Washington, D.C.

Interior designer Thad Hayes spent about nine months detailing and designing the entire interior of this new house near Washington, D.C. Elegant and stately, lots of arches and bay windows and light-infused spaces.

Some time ago I featured another house decorated by Thad Hayes which you can see by clicking here.

A soft palette was used throughout the house. A circa 1820 Japanese screen hangs on the living room wall.


Golden Sunburst mirror above the fireplace. The French bronze fire screen is circa 1930s.

Two 1920s Moroccan ottomans share the sitting room with sofas and club chairs designed by Hayes. The lamp is a converted 19th-century English vase.

George III shield-back dining chairs. Chinese figurines.

The 1935 chairs in the breakfast area were designed by Lucien Rollin.

The diversity of the pieces gives the spaces “more of an irregular rhythm,” says Hayes. A banquette runs along a wall of the conservatory.

Joan Miró’s Femme Mangeant Une Pomme, 1931, hangs over the master bedroom fireplace.
