Renovated French Village House

Interior designer Eva Gnaedinger brought life back to this village house located between Avignon and Uzes in France. Most of its original features like the stone and beams, some of the walls and the staircase have been kept. A mixture of rustic, French and modern styles were used.










Bare walls in the master bedroom. At first glance the master bed seems to be floating.






Sitting area in the pool house. Reclaimed stones were used for the edge of the pool.

Interior Designer Jordi Vayreda

A two level industrial space was transformed into a home by Spanish designer Jordi Vayreda. Modern lines, dashes of pink, green and grey on a white background give this house a casual and youthful feeling.


Open plan for the living room, dining room and kitchen.


The glass and chrome side table was designed by Eileen Grey. Its height can be adjusted.


Close up of the sofa's armrest. Quite a space saver (not that this house lacks space) it doubles as extra storage space for books.










A glass pane at the top of the wall in the master bedroom allows more light in.





A nice detail: flowers in a vase in a rustic bag.

Mountain House With a French Flair

This French style house is in Spain. To be more precise it is in Cerdanya which is a small region in northern Catalonia, in the Pyrenees, on the border of Catalonia with France and Andorra. Interior designer Asun Anto used a very soft palette (I know one or two of you who would like to add a punch of colour here!) with whites, greys and brown in the woodwork. Come and see if you like it!

The walls were sponge painted. The mirror in the dining room makes it look bigger.


On the landing a custom radiator cover with a narrow shelf on top was painted white. Nice way to hide it.

Elegance in LA

Isn't it nice to tour houses? Today you are invited to visit this home in Los Angeles, California. Interior designer Joan Behnke was called on to decorate it. Let me know what you think.


Formal entyway with a winding staircase.

The homeowner is a sculptor; her bronzes are displayed on a coffee table and on the mantel.


The dining room's damask draperies hang heavy with a weighty lining. A mahogany Chippendale-style table in a high-wax finish is rendered less formal by the striped backing on the chairs. The fireplace is a replica of the one in the living room.


In the family room, says designer Joan Behnke, the style is very much California Ranch--comfortable, practical, geared to playing games and watching TV


Outfitted with vintage furniture and a teak console, this loggia with coffered ceilings opens onto the living and dining rooms and a hallway.

Love this kitchen with lots of storage space, beautiful chairs and glass lighting fixtures but, is it me or does the island sink look extremely small?


The breakfast room is adjacent to the family room.


The master suite's bed features a pleated back drapery plus a fringed valance and side panels for a canopied effect.


The side panels' patterned lining is repeated at the bedroom's windows.


Detailed millwork continues in the bathroom.

Holiday House in Cantabria

I had some trouble trying to upload some pics today in my previous post. I still haven't figured out what happened and why the pics wouldn't show so I'm here again with a new post. At least one of you (anonymous) was mad at me so I apologize once again.
