House in Argentina

Sunday reminds me of barbecues in Argentina. So, it's a good day to post pictures of this colonial style house typical of the Argentine Pampas: pinewood floors in some of the rooms, checkered black and white in others, furniture made of wood and cast iron lamps. Sofía Figueroa Bunge decorated the interiors.

Just by the entrance door there's a rack for ponchos. (Note to hubby: we could add glass panes and wrought iron to our front doors, something like these).

The owners display their collection of ponchos in the dining room.

Photographer Sandra Lane

Today is still-life photographer Sandra Lane's turn. I love the way she combines light and colours and the care for details. Some glamorous, some very simple. Take some time to look at the details. Nice, huh?

I can visualize my grandfather in that worn leather armchair. With his book and folded newspaper. I think he'd kindly hand the pillows back to my grandmother!

These curvy line beds are so feminine.

Isn't this chandelier a wee bit too low? I guess one advantage is that you don't have to climb a ladder to clean it!

A chaise lounge at the foot of your bed? Yes, please!

I'm loving all the different tin containers in this kitchen.

Vintage Wall Clocks

Bonus post for today. Some time ago I posted about decorating with clocks (here). Then I found these close up photographs of lovely vintage wall clocks which I'd like to share with you. Love the well worn look of them.

Interior Designer Lisa Rachelle McDennon

Fabulous Friday brings us California based interior designer Lisa Rachelle McDennon who runs her own in Laguna Beach. Her work has appeared in Victorian Homes Magazine, House Beautiful, and Orange Coast.

Her rooms are refined and elegant; a mixture of traditional and contemporary style. I read in her portfolio that during meetings with clients she sketches their ideas and then provides them with three dimensional drawings and sketches in additon to architectural drawings to allow clients to better visualize the interiors. How cool is that? I would frame these sketches and put them on display!

Let's see her rooms and designs now.

How I'd love to have a window seat in my bedroom! And a stunning view to go with it.

And great storage space under the window seat.

Even breakfast in bed can be an occasion for careful arrangement of a table setting, like this tray designed by Lisa McDennon
She even designed this breakfast tray. So simple and elegant.

Unusual star-fish, coral and shell bottle caps in the bathroom.
