Floating Christmas Tree in Rio

As some of you might know I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'd like to share with you these photographs of a stunning Chirstmas tree they put up every year (since 1996) in the middle of a lake called Rodrigo de Freitas or Lagoa as the locals like to call it.

It soars 85 meters high and uses 2,9 million light bulbs! It is built over a floating platform that moves around the lake. It will be lit every night until January 6th and on Saturdays there's a firework show. There's a sidewalk all around the lake so you can enjoy the view from every angle!
Also, the Lagoa will host canoeing & rowing events at the 2016 Olympic Games.

If you happen to be in Rio this time of the year just don't miss it!

Christmas Inspiration

Still need some ideas to bring the holiday spirit into your home?
Come and have a look !

Instead of the customary wreath use a trapper's basket on your front door.

White dove tree ornaments combine with amaryllis, carnations, and orchids.Might they have overdone the mantel a bit? Hmmm

Juniper wreaths hung with ribbon in the windows, a florist's bucket or ornate jug to display amaryllis and other holiday plants and flowers.

Gilded starfish and sand dollars for a nautical wreath.

Those small lanterns on the mantel look lovely.

In an all white room gold looks stunning.

Simple Scandinavian-style wreath of boxwood and dried wheat hangs above a 19th-century painted-wood bench.

A handful of sprigs of wheat in two glass jars flanking a tray with candles. Easy!

This is a 70-year-old clam-shucking table, once used in an Atlantic City seafood restaurant. Dried wheat for the wreath.

Bring the holiday feeling into your bedroom by hanging stockings in different colors and textures at the foot of the bed. Or hang stars made of wheat in the windows.

Add splashes of green and white to every room. Details can be as simple as a wreath hung with striped ribbon.

An Advent calendar made from flash cards, paper clips, and ribbons is strung in a window.

A fragrant wreath made with fresh pine, cedar, hydrangea, and green apples. The contrast between the wreath and the blue door is gorgeous!

I hope these images have inspired you. Let me know which one you like!

Scandinavian Interiors: Colour Burst

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Brazil. Anyway, among many many other things, I am thankful for having discovered the blogging world. I am especially thankful for all my followers and for the comments you leave!

Let's get down to business now.
Three posts ago I showed you some awesome photographs of Scandinavian interiors from Swedish picture agency Johnér. Most of them white. I guess you didn't think much about them because nobody left a comment =( Don't worry, I still love you .

So... today I picked these cheerful rooms from the same agency full of colour! Maybe you like them better than the others! Let me know!

That broken light bulb lamp on the left is quite unusual!

Ok now, just what is that black and orange cable hanging from the beam on the ceiling??

Love the little red lanterns. Those chairs look great but far from comfortable!

Summer House in Mallorca

An all white house with plenty of raw wood furniture, light wooden plank floors, big windows which combined give it an overall summery relaxed feeling.

Beware the loose floor board!

I like the porch curtains.

Add some pillows to the window sill and you have extra seating.

I like the way those curtains graze the floor.
A cheerful house, isn't it?
