Rustic Home in Spain

Good morning to you, lovelies! I'd like to thank you so much for your comments and e-mails letting me know your likes and dislikes. They mean a lot to me and make me feel that the time I spend looking for material for my posts is well worth it. Thanks again!

On to today's tour. This two-level house used to be part of a large farmhouse. Its rustic bones with terracota floors and ceiling, and great combination of old and contemporary pieces make it a warm and interesting home.

Summer House on Paros

This house is located near the town of Naoussa on the north of the Greek island of Paros in the Greek Cyclades. An Austrian couple, Martin and Karin finally got the opportunity to buy the house they had rented for several years. They took eight years to transform it from a traditional farmhouse with stables into a comfortable holiday house.

Materials found locally were used for the renovation.


The small windows were kept. In the dining room a spoon lamp adds a merry touch.

Karin's portrait hangs above the window. Red painted concrete floor, open shelves and baskets in the rustic kitchen.

In the master bedroom the night table and base of the bed are made of concrete.

Renovated Farmhouse in Girona

Good morning dears. This renovated farmhouse is in Girona, a city northeast of Catalonia, in Spain. On a white background, details of tribal art, Chinese antiques or African rugs adorn every room.



Walls are made of stone. A rustic table, long wooden bench and wicker chairs make up a dining space in the porch.


Teak loungers by the pool.



White cotton upholstered sofas, antique Majorcan chairs, a Portuguese coffee table, an Indonesian chest, antique Chinese vases and a zebra skin rug make up the eclectic living room.


Concrete and pebble flooring in the library and kitchen for a rustic look. The table is antique French.


Austere dining room with simple lines. Metal chairs were slipcovered to add warmth.


Concrete and pebble flooring and a long stone countertop in the kitchen. Those simple light bulbs hanging above the table look nice but I wonder whether you have to shade your eyes while eating here.


Ethnic style in the master bedroom where the beams have been painted white. The rug is from Morocco.

Summer House in Cantabria

Good morning sweet readers, it's Friday and I'm taking you to Spain today. This house is in Cantabria, which is located between the Cantabrian sea and Cantabrian mountains in northern Spain. An airy and bright summer house with huge windows to bring the outside in, exposed beams in all the rooms and a mix of antique, rustic and modern furniture. Decorated by interior designer Ana de Castro. Let's take the tour.



Everything set to enjoy the good weather. A wicker living room set in the porch and weathered table and chairs on the lawn.


An antique front door opens to the foyer. All the oak beams and pillars have been lightly painted in white. Stone was used in all the ground floor rooms.


The large sitting room was divided into two areas with chaise lounges on one side and the living area on the other.

No need to go outdoors to enjoy the view.

Two matching headboards of single beds were used for the king sized bed in the master bedroom. Twin ottomans at the foot of the bed and a large mirror leaning on the wall complete the look.




A pair of modern chaise lounges at the other end of the master bedroom. A basket holds extra blankets and pillows.

House in Cantabria

A very Happy Independence Day to all my American readers! Hope you are all having a wonderful time celebrating with your family.

Today I'm taking you to Cantabria, in the north of Spain. this summer house has been decorated combining modern, classic, and antique furniture. Beautiful rustic beams in all the rooms and colourful accents on a pale background makes it both interesting and attractive. Come with me and take the tour.



Sunny sitting area in the porch. Aluminium frame furniture with straight lines.




Deadly hydrangeas dangerously placed near the vintage tea set.


Two chester sofas face each other in the living room. Two antique trunks as coffee tables, one for each sofa, and a third trunk at one side. A XIX century lamp sits on a vintage metal stool. Toile fabric for the XVIII century armchairs.


Two slipcovered chaise lounge and XIX century leather ottoman on the other side of the living room. An iron framed antique mirror rests against the wall. Three kilims add warmth to the room.


A reading nook in the living room with a distressed desk, toile covered antique armchair.


A good example of how to make a room as big as this one warm and inviting. Area rugs have been used to delimit three zones: the living room, piano area and chaise lounge area. A zinc top for the console table behind the sofa. A terracota Han dynasty figurine and a stone base lamp adorn the console table.Three XVIII century Chinese trunks.


Open plan for the living room and dining room. On the console table there is a XIX century wooden trumeau, an English fruitbowl. In the dining room a picture by Luis Fernando Martín hangs beside a curved cupboard.
