Period Home in Haslemere

Hello, my dear friends! It's so nice to be back with you!

We had a wonderful week in Washington DC. We stayed in Georgetown, which I love with its lovely little houses and antique shops. We did get around quite a bit visiting museums and well, doing what every tourist does. We had planned to go up to New York for a couple of days but that fell through as my husband was tied down with work. I'm sorry I wasn't able to post while I was there, so many things to do, so much to see. I'm sure you understand! And I will be catching up with answering all your e-mails and comments, as well as visiting your blogs as soon as possible!

Today's house was built in 1435 and is located in Haslemere, in Surrey, England. Oliver Cromwell's soldiers stayed here during the English Civil War. In 1912 it was divided into two separate houses but was joined together 50 years later. Now it belongs to Annie and Nicholas Jackson who have transformed it into their dream home.

Tour time once again my friends!

  2. What a beautifully inspiring house and garden. I love the French country influence in the house and the typically English garden, how well they compliment each other. Tomorrow if the weather is kinder than the last few days (torrential rain and wind, but then this is England) I will have a little look at my garden and hopefully be inspired.

  3. Welcome back and glad to hear you had a good trip - pity you didn't get to NY! Lovely house tour and surprisingly bright for a house with such low ceilings! Great character with the beams and that heavy front door!

  8. oh how i long to live in england; flowers everywhere (unlike the ghastly heat and drought of chicago), low beamed ceilings and did you see that door?! my husband and i were excited when we bought our home, circa 1853 and told our english friends about our new very old home, they politely stifled chuckles......."1435 this home was built........" amazing!
    welcome home
